The 1st Blueberries of the Season and a Danish King...

I'm driving down Rt. 997 and my day went from good to great in a flash--the Blueberry Sign was up at Blueberry Hill! Now everybody has a favorite fruit or vegetable and at a certain time of the year they take center stage--its their time in the Sun and you know it won't last more than a couple of weeks. For the next 6 weeks, till nearly the end of July, blueberries are center stage!

The Blueberry Hill Farm is just south of Penn National and the folks who own the farm grow a wide variety of produce but, as the name implies, this is the money crop! The picture on the right is of the little stand that sits at the end of the lane. They will be seeing a lot of me in the next 6 weeks.

Have you been there? What are your favorite summertime fruits and where do you like to go?

P.S. You're probably wondering about the Danish King and what he's got to do with blueberries. Bluetooth, the technology that allows you to operate many wireless accessories, was named after a late tenth century king, Harald Bluetooth, King of Denmark and Norway. Seems that he liked his blueberries his subjects called him "bluetooth"--but probably not within earshot!
