Do you really want to live in a 55+ Restricted Community?

In a recent survey of 55+ homebuyers, 80% said they would prefer to live in a mixed-generational neighborhood as opposed to a 55+ age-restricted community. So why have so many 55+ communities sprung up over the last 10 years?

Some of the reasons include:

  • Meeting the Needs of the Boomer generation as they reach retirement age

  • Ease of gaining Development Approvals for 55+ Communities

  • Large Development Companies have created Special Divisions to Develop 55+, e.g. Pulte, Hovnanian, etc.

How is the Penn National Community different? We are a family-owned community that naturally evolved as a Community that attracted a 55+ population because of the quality of its surroundings, its amenities, the small-town atmosphere only 90 minutes from Baltimore & Washington, and an affordable local cost of living in a state that doesn't tax retirement income.

Although 90% or more of our residents would qualify for an age-restricted community, they have chosen to live at Penn National.
