Penn National was founded in 1968 by T.K.
Nitterhouse and a group of local investors
and was the first 18-hole golf course
in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. The
owners formed White Rock, Incorporated,
and with the opening of the golf course,
T.K. began his vision of a master-planned
community. Today, Penn National boasts
two 36-hole nationally recognized championship
golf courses and a thriving community
of over 1,000 families, encompassing over
1,500 acres.
T.K. is a business legend in Franklin County, where his success
can be credited largely to hard work, good instincts, a positive
attitude, and confidence in himself and what he built. He said,
"People have complimented me on the great vision that I have.
People ask me what's next. What will I do next? It's not about tomorrow.
It's about today. Plans for tomorrow happen today."
In 1995, T.K. retired, leaving the business in the capable hands
of his son-in-law, Dennis Zimmerman, and daughter, Patti, who continue
to work on building T.K.'s dream (he passed away in February 2003).
"T.K. was a visionary leader who left the world a better place,
and also left a legacy that Patti and I are proud and committed
to continue", says Dennis, President of White Rock, Inc. Dennis
and Patti reside in the Penn National community with their two children,
Ted and Honor.
